Are you looking for a new look for your fall decor this year? This lovely blue fall decor is not the traditional colors used in fall decorating but it is still giving all the fall vibes!
Happy fall y’all! Well, for a little more anyway as I am sure some of you have moved onto Christmas already! To be honest with you, I have already started my Christmas decorating too, but I am finally getting a chance to share my beautiful blue fall decor with you. I have had the dining room decorated this way for a while now, but have not gotten to share it yet. Better late than never, right? π
This is the first time I have decorated for fall in blue tones. I am usually not much of a blue fan in decorating for some reason. I always tend to avoid it, unless I purposely decorate with it, like in this instance. Of course, after I do, I love it! Ha! I don’t know why I am so resistant to blue. Evidently, it is something I need to get over.
I think this color scheme in particular really works for fall because the neutral colors like all the warm wood tones, tans and creams help to counteract the cooler undertones of the blues. You still have a fall feel with the natural elements in the decor as well.
Fall sideboard decor
As usual, I decorated our makeshift sideboard (actually it is a LEGO storage cabinet under disguise) with coordinating decorations. I left the placement of some of the bigger pieces on the sideboard the same as my peach summer decor and vintage Valentines decor. After all, if something works, why change it? π
This is an easy way to change up your decor for the different seasons. Notice how I basically just changed out a few things that were specific to each season but the overall look is the same. I added this cool sign that I found at Hobby Lobby this year. The neutral color will let me reuse this sign with ease in future years.
The floral stems are one that I change out depending on the color scheme. I have a lot of basic floral stems that I like to reuse, for instance, these lamb’s ear stems. I love the soft look of these stems and they are so versatile. Same thing with the branches with little white flowers. You can also see them both in the peach decor.
Then I will add some additional stems for the particular season like these wheat stems for fall and the blue berry stems to coordinate with the color theme. It doesn’t take much to give the floral arrangement a completely different look!
I also love how the lamb’s ear stems really coordinate with the aqua color of some of the decorations like this blue wood pumpkin and the demijohn vase. Also the wheat stems go great with the wood floral pumpkin!
Another great tip is to use books or a container to raise things up that need some height! You can’t really tell but I set the demijohn bottle on some books to raise it up behind the other decorations as it was getting lost in the background otherwise! Same thing with the blue vase on the right side of the sideboard. They both needed to be at a higher level to work in this vignette.
Blue fall tablescape
I also decorated a simple table setting for fall. I like to keep the tablescapes that I decorate on a smaller scale as we actually use our table on a mostly daily basis. The pumpkin and floral centerpiece is one that is easy to slide out of the way or completely remove if we need to use the whole table. I used my favorite DIY dough bowl and added some faux pumpkins and flowers.
Let’s chat about these pretty flowers! Being from up north, I love hydrangeas, but unfortunately we can’t grow them down here in Florida. So I have to resort to faux ones now. π I know some real dried hydrangeas would look even better but I think these faux ones still look pretty darn good! What do you think?
When using flowers as fillers like this, I just buy an inexpensive bunch of flowers that look like good quality ones and pull them off the stems. This helps to save some money while still looking great! I find most of my florals at Hobby Lobby, they have a great selection.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, you may have recognized some of my recent fall craft projects around the room like these pretty chinoiserie decoupage pumpkins! I am using them as placeholders in this tablescape.
I also found these pretty blue pumpkins that were the same size as my chinoiserie ones. They match really well with the hydrangeas! Also, speaking of pumpkins, a tip for you to be able to stack your pumpkins like this is either remove the stems or just turn the bottom one upside down like I did. No one will ever know! Well, unless you tell them. π
Blue accessories for fall
I also added a few other accessories around the room as well. The other project that I just shared last week is this easy no sew blue pumpkin pillow! It is made with the same fabric as my pumpkin placeholders. That is the beauty of DIY projects! You can customize your decor however you want it to be! π
On the window ledge, I have some pretty blue pillows. I found these pillow covers at Ikea, gotta love Ikea for their pillow covers!! They were actually the inspiration for the whole blue fall decor. I loved this French blue color and thought I could make it work for fall. So I took my own challenge and nailed it, in my own opinion. Ha!!
Lastly, on the other side of the window ledge is a three tiered tray decorated up for fall in coordinating shades of neutrals, blues and greens.
That wraps up my fall posts, I will be back soon to start some really cute Christmas crafts! I am excited about what I have planned and can’t wait to show you. Just to give you a hint, it will be a hard candy Christmas around here. π Chat soon friends!
