Put your old books to use instead of just having them sit around. Learn how to make this adorable paper bunny garland from book pages!
Hey guys! I am back to show you how to make the cute bunny garland that I shared in my neutral Easter decor post last week, and just in time too! Can you believe Easter is already this weekend?!
I had some older books around already that I use for decoration, so I just used one of those to make this Easter bunny garland. If you don’t have any old books around, hit up a thrift store and you will find plenty. If you don’t want to use a book, that is fine too. You could make this with any kind of paper.
I love quick and easy crafts and this one would fit into that category. The longest part of the project is cutting out the bunnies, but if you have a cutting machine, that could save you time.

Print and cut out the bunny templates
The first step is to print out the bunny templates onto a piece of card stock. When you are printing, make sure you print this pattern at 100% to make sure the size is correct. Every printer is different so just make sure your settings are not set to ‘fit to page‘ or that the box is not checked letting your printer make changes. The size of the bunnies are 3.75″ x 1.75″.
You do not need all six bunnies on the page for this project, you will only need to cut out two. That is unless you are printing them out for multiple people. You will need to cut out one whole bunny and cut the other one with the bunny body only, cutting off the ears.
How to make a bunny garland
Trace both bunny templates onto a book page. The size of the book I used only allowed me to fit one of each on a page, but you may be able to fit more on yours.
You will need one whole bunny body and seven earless bunnies to make one 3D bunny to go on the book page bunny garland. So I traced three of the earless bunnies onto a page as well. To save time, I tore out and cut four pages at one time. This made the cutting process go a lot faster. I made nine 3D bunnies in total, so you will need to cut out 9 whole bunnies and 63 earless bunny bodies. It sounds like a lot, but it goes by quickly when you are cutting out four pages at a time.
Pull out one whole bunny and seven earless bunnies from your stack of bunnies.
Add a hook to hang bunny from garland
We will need to add a hook to the bunny to hang it from on the garland. I used some small jewelry tools, a wire cutter and round nose pliers, to cut and shape the wire into a loop on the bunny.
Cut a small piece of wire about 2 inches long. Squeeze the end of the wire with the round nose pliers and form the wire around the pliers to make a loop at the end. Cut off the excess wire so the looped end is about 1/2″ long. You will be able to make another hook from the leftover wire.
Glue down the wire loop onto the bunny so that the loop is between the bunnies ears. This is where the bunny will hang from the twine for the garland.
Assemble the 3D bunny
Now take the earless bunnies and fold them in half lengthwise.
Separate the earless bunny bodies into two piles of three bunnies each, and put the last body off to the side. Place three earless bunnies in front of the whole bunny and three earless bunnies behind the whole bunny.
Staple the bunny bodies together and fan out the bodies into a 3D shape.
Cut the last earless bunny body in half. These two halves will be glued in to hide the staples on each side, and to round out the 3D bunny shape.
Add a small amount of hot glue onto the staples on the front of the bunny. Place one half the of the last bunny body into the glue and hold until dry. Repeat on the back side of the bunny. Now you have a complete 3D bunny.
Add bunnies to twine to make a bunny garland
Cut a long piece of twine, mine was about 65 inches long to fit on my mantel. Find the center point of the twine and thread a bunny onto the twine until you reach that center point. Tie a knot so the bunny stays put on the twine in that exact spot.
Working your way out on each side from the center bunny, add bunnies at 6″ intervals.
Continue this until you have added all nine bunnies.
Tie a loop on each end of the twine to hang the garland from.
Now just hang your bunny garland and enjoy! I use command hooks on either side of our mantel shelf to hang the garland. You may need to adjust the length of the loops on the end of the twine to make sure it is centered.
