Who has time to make breakfast on Christmas morning anyway? Usually we have a bigger meal later in the day so breakfast is just grab whatever is available. This would be something you can prepare ahead of time and simply mix together in the morning and throw in the oven. Super easy!
The dry ingredients are already ready in the jar. The person who you give the jar to will have to add some wet ingredients but the majority of the mix is there. I layered the dry ingredients to make them look nicer in the jar.
To prepare the jar like the picture above you need to put in the following ingredients in the following order:
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup rolled oats (not quick oats)
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries
To keep the mess minimized, I used a funnel to pour in the flour and brown sugar.
I made some labels for the jars. If you print them onto sticky paper, you can apply them directly to the lid and jar. If you don’t have sticky paper, you can always use regular paper and some double stick tape. The label on the lid has the wet ingredients the person receiving the gift would need as well as the baking instructions.
The label on the jar just lets them know what kind of muffins they are. 🙂 You can find the labels HERE.
This recipe makes 12 muffins so I included 12 muffin liners. They have all kinds of fun Christmas patterned liners at the store, you should be able to find some red and green ones easily to match with the label. Place them upside down on the lid and tie a piece of twine around the whole jar to secure them down.
How cute is this? It is a perfect gift for a neighbor, teacher or anyone for that matter.

Thanks Debra!
This is a great idea, especially if you’re hosting a Christmas morning brunch and want to serve fresh from the oven muffins on the buffet table. Takes the guesswork and time out of making them!
Thanks Marie! That is what I thought too. I love meals you can prepare ahead of time!
I absolutely love this idea! Such a perfect hostess gift and would be fun to make for coworkers too!
Thanks Carlee! No doubt!
What a yummy gift to give someone! And I love how you tied the muffin liners to the top of the jar.
What size jars do you use for this?
Hi Heather! It is a regular mouth 32 oz mason jar.
