Add a touch of opulence with this dark green Christmas tree with gold accents. The dark green and gold color combination looks so glamorous and the colors pop against the white flocking.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here! At least inside anyway. Ha! I am back today to share my dark green Christmas tree with gold accents. This tree is really more beautiful in person, the pictures don’t do it justice!
Speaking of pictures, when I took these, I didn’t realize I had some settings for the white balance wrong on the camera. D’oh! That left them looking really yellow and green, so I needed to try to clean them up in the editing process. Needless to say, they are not up to my usual standard but they will work. I really wasn’t up to taking them all again! Ugh! So the lights on the Christmas tree really aren’t that yellow and if you notice the color off in some pictures, now you know why. 🙁
9 foot flocked Christmas tree
If you read my brown Christmas tree post, I talked about my Christmas tree dilemma. Due to our tall ceilings, I needed taller trees. I found this gem at Walmart of all places! It is a 9 foot Tahoe Spruce. It is flocked really well, pre-lit and a slim profile which is what we needed for our space. And the price was about half of all the others I looked at! Of course, they were out of them at our local store so we drove just a bit to the neighboring town to get one.
I really like how the finished tree turned out. I knew I wanted to decorate a dark green Christmas tree this year and when I found this Christmas tree garland at Ikea, the deal was sealed! It is a 3D paper garland and it is so cute! I used four of the garlands on my tree.
Little did I know how hard it would be to find dark green ornaments though! You can find lots of bright emerald green and even some dark green ornaments in multi-colored packs but none on their own. I looked all over until I finally found some glass ones at Michaels. I even looked online and they are very scarce there too. Who knew?
While I was at Michaels, I also came across this gorgeous ribbon! It was perfect for the color and I love the pattern on it too!
Speaking of the ribbon, I think I redid this ribbon three different ways on this tree. I was not happy with how I usually do it, I think the dark green color was just too overpowering in longer strips. So I decided to try something different. I took my 4 foot sections and made three loops with a tail sticking out of the end. Since it is a wired ribbon, there was no need to tie it, I just stuck it into the Christmas tree like this and it stayed.
I also added some different sized gold ornaments, and snowflakes. I love how the dark green pops against the white flocking. It is such a rich color and paired with the gold, it looks very luxurious.
Finish off your tree with coordinating presents
For a tree skirt, I just used a white knit blanket as you can’t see much of it anyway! That is because of all the wonderfully wrapped presents on top of it. Ha! I always like to coordinate my presents with my Christmas tree. I feel like it is the topping on the cake.
If you are having trouble finding coordinating wrapping paper, you can always use white or kraft colored wrapping paper and add some matching ribbon. You can even do some elaborate designs with the ribbon like this adorable Christmas tree. I just happened to have a little wood star for the top too. 🙂 There are so many cute wrapping ideas out there, just do some google searches and you will find lots!
Dark green Christmas mantel
I love to coordinate my mantel with my Christmas tree and this year is no different.
I found this Merry Christmas sign at Ross this year and also picked up the dark green stockings there too! They were the perfect finds for my color scheme.
I decorated a simple Christmas mantel this year by adding some cone trees and calling it good. You may recognize a few of them as my previous DIY projects. The white felt leaf Christmas trees are ones I made several years ago.
The wood chip Christmas trees were a project I just made this year! They were fun to make but a bit of a challenge at the same time!
I found the green plaid cone trees at Hobby Lobby this year. Again, a perfect addition!
Add some garland and stockings
On the front, I draped some garland and added three stockings to each side. I also added this cute mini bell garland too. It brings in a little touch of needed gold to the mantel.
The stockings are just secured by command hooks. What did we ever do before those? LOL
Don’t forget pillows!
Of course you also need matching pillows! I found some dark green velvet pillow cases at Ikea and I already had this gold pillow case. The plaid Christmas tree pillow was one that I made previously as well. Check out that post to learn how to make your own!
I had a helper when I was taking pictures. This is one of our two cats. Her name is Anna, she is usually not far away from either Mr. Wonderful or myself. Our other cat, Elsa, can usually be found hanging out with our boys. Isn’t it funny how they prefer certain people over others?
Dark green Christmas decor
In addition to the dark green and gold Christmas mantel, I also added some other coordinating touches around the room. Across from the couch sits a media center full of all of our retro game systems. The boys love to play those in here! We still have some cord management to do in here but for now I decorated the top of the media center with some dark green and gold accents.
I put some green and gold ornaments in this glass cloche along with some white pinecones. Here is a tip, fill it up upside down, then add the base and flip it over. 😉
I used this vintage ceramic Christmas tree on the other side. These kind of trees brings back lots of memories! My grandma had one, so I remember it well from my childhood and this one actually belonged to Mr. Wonderful’s grandmother.
Entryway Christmas decor
This living area is right off of the entryway so we have dubbed it the parlor! It sounds so fancy, right? We are just having fun with it. 🙂 Anyway, the entryway is also decorated with green and gold Christmas decor. Since we don’t usually need coats in Florida, this coat rack is the perfect place for decorations!
I added some fun green and gold bells and a cute Christmas sign.
On the other side of the entryway is a small table flanked by some mini trees.
As you can see, this is a pass through to the dining room and my brown Christmas tree. We eventually want to remove this wall completely to open up this space. That and several other projects! All in due time. 🙂
On top of the table, I added a glass terrarium with some bottle brush trees and fairy lights.
In addition, this plaid fabric reindeer that I made around the same time as the plaid pillows.
Well that is it for my Christmas decor this year. Our kitchen and attached living room are minimally decorated with reds, but there is no Christmas tree in there so I did not take pictures. I think this post was long enough anyway! LOL I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
