What is it about the beginning of the year that makes us want to declutter and organize? I think it is being able to have a fresh start. A fresh start makes you think about things you want to change for the better, like your health, your finances, things in your home and maybe even your relationships. While some of these “New Year’s resolutions” may go by the wayside, organizing your home can be something that will have long lasting effects. The way I look at it is the decluttering helps to clean things up now (by minimizing all the stuff we have) and the organization helps to keep things clean in the future. If there is a place for all of our stuff to go, the less clutter you will have around, right? Well in theory anyway! π
I really hate clutter and while our house is not too bad, I have been thinking about decluttering and organizing lately too. Mainly going through and purging all the unnecessary things that we keep around for years and never use. Why do we do that? Thinking someday we will wear this shirt, or use this salad spinner… LOL. My method for decluttering is going to be focusing on getting rid of things we do not actually use. I am not going to keep around anything for the what ifs. If you are thinking about it too, here are some other great decluttering and organizing tips for your home that you can look through.
