Christmas decorations are not only relegated to the living room. Spread out the festive cheer with this fun dining room Christmas decor!
Two days and counting! We are getting down to the finish line. Are you ready? Around here, the presents are wrapped and I am finishing up baking some Christmas cookies today. But first, I wanted to share my dining room Christmas decor with you.
When I decided to decorate two trees this year, I was excited to put one up in the dining room. I have never had a tree next to our table and I liked the thought of decorating a tablespace next to a Christmas tree.
Just a heads up, this is going to be a big post because I ran out of time to get everything done! Ha! So there will be about three different decorating areas that I will be sharing with this dining room decor, in addition to the Christmas tree itself! Be prepared for lots of pictures. 🙂
Navy, red and green Christmas tablescape
The first thing I am going to share is my Christmas tablescape in the dining room. If you saw my navy Christmas decor which showcased the living room decor, you will remember that I focused on navy for my Christmas tree in there. But for the remainder of the decor, I added red and green.
I decided to continue that color theme for the tablescape. I found the perfect plaid blanket scarf (affiliate link) to use as a tablecloth. It contained all three colors and it was plaid! You can’t beat that!
For the plates, I used a similar layout to my 4th of July tablescape, but changed up how the napkins were folded and the napkins rings.
I saw an Instagram reel where they folded the napkins into a bow and thought it was so cute. It is a very simple fold and easily found by googling it. I also made up some simple napkin rings using red beads and some twine.
I found these mini wood ornaments with Christmas sayings at Walmart and thought they would be perfect to use as placeholders.
For the centerpiece I used our DIY sugar mold and filled it with red, navy and green ornaments.
Then I surrounded the sugar mold with a pine garland. I also added some Eucalyptus and Lamb’s ear pieces to fill it out more.
I think the tablescape turned out so cute and it works well with the tree and the “buffet table” decor.
Buffet table Christmas decor
The rest of the decor in the dining room is focused more on just red and white. Including what I am calling the buffet table. It is really a Lego storage cabinet in disguise. 😉
I used lots of trees coupled with a few other items for the buffet table top decor.
I found this ‘Tis the Season tin sign at Target this year on the dollar spot. I snagged up that one and another one that I did not use this year but will save for future use. 🙂
I like the mix of the flocked greenery trees with the mercury glass trees.
I added a flocked Christmas wreath on top of our DIY tobacco basket and just added some red berries to tie it into the rest of the decor.
These flocked stems in this glass vase also work well with the flocked trees and wreath.
I added a cute little Santa and a red lantern for more pops of red.
Red, white and silver Christmas tree
For the dining room Christmas tree, I wanted to keep it simple this year by decorating it mostly white with pops of red accents.
I used mostly white and silver ornaments with red ones scattered throughout. I also added some red berry stems and red and white striped ribbon.
The ‘snow’ on the branches is actually just microfiber duster refills. They look so great on a flocked tree!
Of course, I had to coordinate the presents to go under the tree as usual.
Our cat Anna was even admiring the tree! 🙂
Murphy bed Christmas decorations
The last area that I wanted to share with you is on the other side of the dining room in our rental. We have put our murphy bed there for lack of a better space. 😉 However it is nice because it gives me another area to decorate!
I left it decorated similarly to my farmhouse fall decor where I used our DIY interchangeable sign. However, it now says ‘believe’ and I switched the decor to a white village Christmas theme.
I found these village buildings at a thrift store several years ago and painted them with white spray paint. I shared them on this white village Christmas mantel then.
To highlight some of the village buildings, I put them under cloches.
To add more interest, I also placed them at different levels using cake stands.
Since the sign in the middle is so tall, I needed to add items with some height on each side . I added a big vase with greenery stems and red berries on one side and a three tiered tray on the other.
The last step was to add some greenery with little fairy lights and flank each side of the murphy bed with smaller lit trees. It is so magical at night seeing all the twinkling lights with this area plus the two trees!
Whew, that is it! We got through all the dining room Christmas decor, are you still with me? 🙂 I hope you enjoyed the tour and it may give you some ideas for next year planning! I am signing off for a couple of weeks but I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
