Check out this cheery Easter mantel with a bonus vignette! No need to change up your decor for Spring, this look can work for both!
I was a little late with my Easter decorating this year but after I recently made this wood egg Easter wreath, I couldn’t let it hang out up there all alone! SO… I had to decorate a simple Easter mantel and vignette.
I only wish I would have been able to share it with you sooner so you could have some decorating ideas for this year. Well, there is always next year! 😉 Just remember to Pin It to your Easter board! However, this would work for a Spring look for a little while longer anyway.
Decorating an Easter Mantel
I shared the tutorial for this wood egg bead Easter wreath a couple days ago and I have gotten lots of compliments on it. I am so glad everyone is loving it as much as I do! The bunny in the wreath was the color inspiration for the whole mantel.
I would never have picked purple, orange and green to go together but they do wonderfully! I guess it makes sense, they are a triadic color scheme on the color wheel. Maybe I need to pull out a color wheel more often in decorating! Ha!
I had originally gotten some carrots to go on the wreath but did not like them on there. So I decided to use the carrots elsewhere on the mantel. I have been wanting to use my DIY sugar mold in my mantel decor for a while and was planning on putting some flowers into it, but I happened to place a carrot in one of the holes and this idea was born!
Isn’t it so cute?! It looks like the carrots are planted in the sugar mold. 🙂 I used Spanish moss, similar to this tablescape with Easter eggs, to hold the carrots upright. The moss resembles grass and dirt perfectly!
I really love the wreath, but I think the carrots in the sugar mold are my favorite part of the mantel!
Since the sugar mold took up so much room on the mantel, there wasn’t much else needed on there. However, the mantel overall still needed something. I decided to make a garland, but what kind? After several ideas, I chose to make a fabric floral garland to tie into the flowers in the wreath.
Luckily I have lots of fabric scraps around, so this was an easy garland to whip up. I will be sharing the tutorial for it next week. I still have one more Easter craft to share with you before Easter first! 🙂
An Easy Easter Vignette
I also put together an Easter vignette for the coffee table because otherwise it looks so bare! It also serves another purpose though, to pull in colors from the mantel.
These are all items I had on hand. It pays to shop your house. Ha! Aren’t these tiny eggs in the nest so cute?
One of our kitties, Elsa, thinks so too! She is obsessed with them and keeps stealing them from the vignette!! LOL She bats them around with her paws and eventually they end up somewhere she can’t reach them. After replacing them several times, I finally gave up and just let her play with them. I just replaced the small eggs with the big eggs in the nest. Elsa wins this battle! 🙂
I got this bunny several years ago at Hobby Lobby and have used it every year. He is very classic looking and won’t go out of style. It is nice to have a couple staple decor items that can be reused so you don’t have to buy new things every year! I placed some carrots in front of him to coordinate with the carrots on the mantel.
Not sure if you noticed but my pillows match the flowers on the garland! Some of the scrap fabric came from making those pillows, like this one! Never throw away your scraps! You never know when they might come in handy!
