Don’t be afraid to use color in your farmhouse fall decor. I used traditional reds and oranges combined with farmhouse elements in this vignette and it looks gorgeous! The colors totally capture the essence of fall!
Today I am sharing a quick post about some farmhouse fall decor that I displayed on top of our murphy bed. No worries if you don’t have a murphy bed. 😉 This is something you could easily replicate on a console table or sideboard/buffet table.
I know when someone thinks of farmhouse decor, they usually associate that with neutral colors. But I am here to tell you that you can decorate in a farmhouse style using color too!
I used traditional fall colors of rust orange, copper and red for this fall vignette. Doesn’t it look so beautiful?
Incorporate farmhouse elements
To give the farmhouse style to this fall decor, I added some accent pieces that you would usually find in farmhouse decor. For instance, word signs are popular in farmhouse decorating, and the big statement piece in this vignette is our DIY interchangeable front porch sign. Yes, you read that correctly, it is a sign that we had made up for our front porch. Ha! However, since we are renting for the time being, it currently is not being used on the porch.
Our ceilings in this house are pretty tall, so I thought this large sign would work well in this space. It does, wonderfully, I might add. The galvanized tin on the background of the sign allows us to change out the greetings on it and it also fits well into a farmhouse theme. 😉 For now it reads ‘Gather’, but I like the sign here so much that it may live here for a while. I can easily change out the words for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
Use repeating elements
To tie into the galvanized tin on the sign, I added my olive buckets on one side. The olive buckets are another favorite farmhouse element. I thought it would be fun to stack them. I really like how it looks especially with the gorgeous maple leaves coming out of the buckets.
On the other side, I added this cute little galvanized lantern and filled it with mini white and orange leather pumpkins.
Decorate a tiered tray with farmhouse fall decor
You can also see the galvanized tin element continued on with this farmhouse tiered tray decorated for fall.
A lot of the decor on the fall tiered tray is some that I have had for a while, but I found the cute little sign in a pack on the Target dollar spot.
Otherwise, I just added the usual fall items like pumpkins, apples, pinecones, acorns and leaves to fill up the tray.
Reuse your farmhouse fall decor in new ways
In the middle of the vignette, in front of the farmhouse sign, is our DIY sugar mold. This set up is similar to my summer lemon styling, where I turned the sugar mold on it’s side. I loved that so much that I left it that way for fall too!
I found these cute little mini leather pumpkins at Hobby Lobby and they fit in perfectly. Quite literally, not only with the colors but in size too. See, they had to be small to fit in the holes. 😉
Behind the sugar mold, I added this fun DIY paper bag leaf garland that I made up a couple years ago. If you couldn’t tell by now, I like to reuse my decor items in new ways. I hope you don’t get bored seeing the same things over again but this seems way more practical than buying new every year, right? I am much too thrifty to do that anyway. Ha! I hope it actually inspires you to use your old decor in new ways too!
However, once in a while I will buy some new items to fill out my decor like this beautiful copper glass pumpkin that I found at HomeGoods. It is very pretty and even lights up!
What do you think of this colorful farmhouse fall decor? Do you prefer to decorate with color or neutrals?
If you are a fan of neutrals, you will like what I have coming up. I have decorated a tablescape and sideboard with neutral fall colors. I will be sharing that soon as well as one last adorable fall DIY project. Then it will be time to move onto Christmas! I can’t wait! I am excited for Christmas decorating this year! How about you?
