Christmas trees don’t only have to be for Christmas! Put up your tree a little early this year to get some extra mileage out it. Turn it into a Halloween Christmas Tree with fun spooky decorations and pumpkin ornaments!
Hey guys! I am excited to share my Halloween decor with you! Do you remember how I left my Christmas tree up a little longer this past year and decorated a Valentine’s Day tree? Well, I had so much fun with that tree that I decided to put it up early this year and decorate a Halloween Christmas Tree!
To go along with the tree, I decorated a Halloween mantel as well which I will also share in this post, but first let’s focus on this lovely Halloween tree! Initially I thought about doing some bright Halloween colors like orange, purple and lime green. Ultimately I settled on doing a more vintage look, with earth tone colors with black and white and I freaking LOVE it! Maybe I will try the bright color scheme next year! π
It was fun to add some spooky elements to the tree like these skulls and skeleton garlands.
These fuzzy little spiders from the Dollar store also helped to add the Spooktacular feel to the tree.
They were just the babies to this big mama spider at the top of the tree!
Add some ornaments and ribbons
Luckily I already had the colored ornaments for this tree. I really like the combination of brown, bronze, black and white with the pops of rust orange. The rust color came from some berry stems from Hobby Lobby and these yarn pumpkin ornaments. I shared the tutorial for these pumpkins a couple weeks ago, check it out so you can make some too! I was able to use them in several ways this year in my decorating as you will see.
The black and orange spiky stems were found at Michaels and I just cut them down to make some individual picks to put throughout the tree. I also found the black and white ribbon there too!
Adding some mini Halloween signs in the tree also helped to make it festive. You may recognize this witch hat at the top of the tree as the one that I gave a makeover to. I think it looks much better, don’t you?

Decorate around the tree too!
At the bottom of the Halloween Christmas tree, I added some orange, black and white pumpkins with a fun witch sign to go along with the hat at the top!
These DIY witch brooms also fit well with the theme and help to add more interest next to the tree.
Coordinating Halloween mantel decor
The Halloween Christmas tree is the main focal point in the room, so I coordinated the decor in the rest of the room to go along with that. On the mantel, I added some black and cream gauze to the backdrop and mantel itself. This gauze is such a nice and inexpensive Halloween staple in decorating. It instantly makes something look creepier, right?
The wreath on the Halloween mantel was inspired by this Anthropologie wreath. I liked the look of the cascading black boughs so I thought I would try to recreate it and add a little of my own flair. I got a black cascading garland from Michaels and cut that down to fit around the grapevine wreath about 3/4 of the way and used wire to attach the garland to the grapevine wreath.
Then I shoved some Spanish moss in and around the black garland. I did not need to secure that, it was held in place by the garland itself. Lastly, I added some black ravens. I think these make the wreath extra special. What do you think?
Add some fun Halloween accessories
On the left side of the mantel, I added this DIY cheesecloth ghost in a cloche. Do you remember those from my Halloween decor last year? They survived great after being stuffed in a tub for a year. π Mr. Wonderful had a great idea to put some fairy lights under the ghost and it looks amazing! Why didn’t I think of that?
Next to the ghost is the upgraded tinsel black cat that I just gave a makeover to recently along with the witch hat. Again, it is a big improvement. You’ll also notice some of the cute little yarn pumpkins under it’s feet.
On the other side, I added a terracotta Jack-O-Lantern and a witch’s cauldron with some bubbles coming out of it! I don’t know if you have seen this decor on social media before but I thought it was super cute and had to try it! I found this wicker cauldron at TJ Maxx and added some iridescent clear ornaments to it with some fairly lights underneath. It looks really cute!
The Jack-O-Lantern also came from TJ Maxx. They were both great finds! Initially I only had the bubbles lit up, now the ghost is lit up too and looks fantastic, especially at night in combination with the lights from the Halloween Christmas tree.
Add some complementary pillows
You all know my love for pillow covers, so of course I added some pillows that harmonize with the color scheme of the tree and the mantel.
You may recognize this Pottery Barn knockoff DIY ghost pillow from a couple years ago. That is one of my favorite things about decorating each year. Being able to bring out old projects and give them new life. π
On the other side of the room, I added some Halloween accessories to the media stand like some coordinating ornaments to my DIY sugar mold. Also some more cheesecloth ghosts, potions and some spider candle holders. Although they are currently holding some mini pumpkins.
On the other side I added some skeleton heads and pumpkins to a wood bowl.
I hope you enjoy the Halloween decor, I always have a lot of fun putting it all together and it is fun to share it with like minded people who love seasonal decorating too! I appreciate all your feedback and kind comments on my posts. If it brings a little inspiration to someone then I have accomplished my goal. Have a wonderful weekend!
