Today I am going to show you how to make a super fun and adorable accessory for your table settings. These floral bowl wreaths are like bling for your table. 😉 When I was decorating my spring tablescape, I wanted to come up with new idea for the place settings. I had already decided that I was using fruit in my tablescape so the cut grapefruit worked in perfectly. But the place settings were still lacking in the WOW factor.
I once saw a table set with little grapevine wreaths around the bowls and that inspired me to make these floral wreaths for my bowls. Since I was making them myself, I could incorporate the colors from the rest of the table. You could make these wreaths using all kinds of different flowers in whatever colors your table is decorated with. I decided to use lower profile flowers as I did not want them to compete with the tulips on my table. I think they would be gorgeous with some bigger flowers though. They would also look stunning using real flowers but unfortunately they would not last long. That is why I decided to go with faux flowers.

For this project you will need:
- Faux Flowers – I got mine at Hobby Lobby. They are the soft, almost foam like material. Yellow Wild Rose, Pink Wisteria, Yellow Wild Berries
- Floral Wire
- Wire Cutters
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Originally, I did not know how many flowers to buy. I tried to estimate how much of the flowers I would use for each wreath. I bought 2 bunches of the pink wisteria, 3 bunches of the yellow wild rose, and one bunch of the yellow wild berries. Of course, buy them when they are 50% off! 🙂 This amount ended up being perfect to make 6 bowl wreaths.
Using wire cutters, I cut the individual stems off of the bunches. Try to cut them off as close to the main stem as possible. I decided to use the light yellowish green stalks that came in the yellow wild berries bunch as well. I cut those in half to better fit the size of the rest of the pieces. The picture below shows what I used for each wreath.
Starting with the pink flowers, I joined the ends (the top on one and the bottom of the other) together with some floral wire. Just tightly wrap the wire around the ends to secure them. As you can see in the picture, there were three of the stems joined together in one wreath. Don’t worry about the floral wire being seen, we will cover it later. 😉
Next, add the yellow wild rose flowers to the wreath. Basically I just spiral wrapped the flower stem around the wreath. For the most part floral wire was not needed unless the flower did not want to stay on top of the wreath. You can add wire if you want to, I only added a small piece of wire to a couple of the flowers over all six wreaths. Most of them just stayed in place themselves. Try to space out the yellow flowers evenly.
Using the same wrapping technique, I added the yellow berries.
I stuck the yellowish green stalks in between the layers of stem and sometimes into the floral wire. Make sure they are all going the same direction as the flowers in the wreath.
Lastly, to hide the floral wire I used some leaves from the leftover flowers and stems I had. I just tore them off as close to the stem as possible. Put a little hot glue on the leaf and glue it on top of the floral wire. The yellow wild berries stems had tiny flowers on them and those work great to cover the areas where I used a small piece of wire. I just glued leaves on the top and outside of the wreath. I did not worry about the inside as that would not be seen after the bowl was placed inside the wreath.
That’s it! They are super simple to make and a fun craft that doesn’t take very long.
Don’t they dress up the plates nicely? They fit in really well into my citrus and floral spring tablescape. I think they would be cute to make a display with too. Maybe hanging at different heights from a window on the mantel. Hmmmm… the ideas are flowing! 😉
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Have a wonderful day!
