Jewel Tone Christmas Tree

by Kimberly Leave a Comment

Usher in a regal feeling Christmas this year with this jewel tone Christmas tree. The bold, rich colors make your tree pop and will make you feel like royalty in your own home!

Whoa! Time is flying by! Where did the last month go? 🙂 Are you all ready for Christmas? I feel like I have been behind the eight ball all season, but then again I feel like I say that EVERY year. Ha! I am finally sharing my Christmas trees with y’all and couldn’t be more excited to start off with this jewel tone Christmas tree. She sure is a beauty!

Rainbow Christmas Tree

Jewel tones are colors and tones that stem from gemstones such as emeralds, rubies, sapphires, citrine, and amethyst. Typically, jewel tones have deeper color saturation which makes them striking and eye-catching. I LOVE all the colors on this tree, and love how rich the tones are! This has been a tree idea that I have been toying with in my head for a while as I have been collecting more and more different colored ornaments over the years.

The only color I was missing were purple ornaments. I had some pink ones that I thought would work, however they were a little too light pink with the rest of the colors. So when I found this pack of purples and magenta ornaments this year, it was fate! I used the more plum purple and magenta ornaments, rather than the bright purple ones.

Since jewel tones are such dark, rich colors, I thought about getting a darker red to go with the other colors but in the end decided against it since I already had a lot of red ornaments to begin with. My frugal side won that battle. 😉

Since I only had regular sized ornaments in these colors, I placed some of the ornaments in groups of threes. I thought this helped to create the look of a bigger ornament, and also like the way the jewel tones play together in the groups of three.

Some other fun ornaments that I added to the tree are these DIY tassel ornaments that I shared with you a couple weeks ago. I was so happy when I found coordinating embroidery floss in my stash to all the colors of ornaments that I had. In fact, they worked almost perfectly!

I also added some of these gem ornaments. I have had these around for years and they were a perfect match for my citrine (bronze) colored ornaments. Plus they are already gems, literally! LOL They are really pretty when the light catches them!

Other Christmas tree accessories

In addition to the ornaments, I added some gold ribbon. I had a little bit of trouble deciding how to do the ribbon. Normally, I cut it into 3-4 foot sections and weave it into the tree horizontally. However, I wanted the jewel toned ornaments to be the main focus of the tree this year and it felt like the gold ribbon took away from that when it was on the tree in strips. So I decided to use the same technique I used last year on my dark green Christmas tree, and bunched up the ribbon in loops. I also found these glittery gold feather picks at Ross and added them for some extra fun.

The Christmas tree still felt like it needed something but again, I didn’t want to distract from the jewel tones. So I added some pieces of Eucalyptus to the tree. It helped to add some texture to the tree.

I love to coordinate the rest of the room to my Christmas tree, so I decorated my mantel in jewel tones as well. This year I went very minimal with my Christmas mantel, at least this feels minimalistic to me! Ha!

I draped some garland on the front of the mantel and added some of those cluster lights that I got last year to match the ones on the tree. Still loving these! They look sooooo great on the tree and the mantel. They are absolutely magical at night.

I found some candles in the exact jewel tone colors I needed at Hobby Lobby. Score! Although one candle is a different style, but don’t tell anyone. 😉 These gold candlesticks came from Amazon and are a great deal!

In the middle, I just used some gold bottle brush trees with some of the colored ornaments from the tree. Super simple yet effective to tie it all together.

On the other side, I added a vase with cedar branches. On each side of the mantel, a couple cream colored stockings were hung with care. 😉

I added some coordinating jewel tone velvet ribbon on each of the stockings. These knit stockings are great neutral stockings that I use year after year. I found the velvet ribbon at Hobby Lobby in a pack.

Coordinate your pillows and presents

Of course, the pillows have to match too! I already had all the colors of pillow covers on hand, except the pink and purple. I found some magenta and purple pillow covers on Amazon and was amazed at how well they matched the ornament colors. Especially when ordering online, sometimes the colors look different on your computer screen than what it is in real life. But these were perfect! They are velvet and super soft. They came in a two pack as well so it will be easy to use them again in the future! 🙂

The presents are another thing that look better when they match with the theme, I feel like they are the finishing touch on the Christmas tree. I wasn’t sure what color to wrap the presents in this year. I did not want a lot of dark bold colors under the tree so I looked for some plain gold wrapping paper to add colored ribbon to. Do you think I could find plain gold paper anywhere?! Of course not! But I did find this cream colored wrapping paper that worked. Plus it pulled in the cream color from the stockings, so that was nice.

I also found this rainbow tree wrapping paper at Walmart that matched great! Although I only used it on small packages to bring in some color as I feel like it would get overpowering otherwise. I am still uncertain whether I like it in there at all but I thought it was a fun addition. What do you think? Do you like the mix or should I just have done cream paper only with colored ribbon?

I will be back tomorrow to share my other Christmas tree in the dining room! As much as I love this tree with all the color, I have to say the next one is my favorite of the two. Can’t wait to share it with you guys. Chat soon friends!
