Happy 4th of July!! I still can’t believe we are at that point of the summer already. We have been super busy lately and summer is zooming by. I will have some fun outdoor projects to share with you soon! Speaking of being busy, I meant to get this post up last week! Ugh!! Oh well, better late than never, right? At least that is what I am telling myself. π I shared my DIY weathered wood flag with you last week and today am sharing my whole decorated neutral summer patriotic mantel.
Even though this patriotic mantel is perfect for the 4th of July, it is nice in that it would also work all year round. I plan to leave it up through the summer. Since the colors are neutral and not red, white and blue, I feel like you can get more longevity out of it. What do you think? Would you keep this up past the 4th of July?
To go along with the colors in the flag, I shopped our house for more items that were neutral in color. Even though these cigar boxes may not scream “America!”, the colors worked perfectly. I couldn’t pass up the chance to use them. We got them from my FIL who collects cigar boxes. I told him I would decorate with them on my mantel someday. I don’t think he believed me. Ha!
The stars fit in great with the patriotic theme. I love having big metal stars to decorate with. They are easy to incorporate into lots of holiday decor.
Initially, I did not have the greenery in the mantel and it was looking a little monotone. I think the greenery adds the needed pop. The muted green color acts as a neutral itself so it fits in well.
Of course it is all faux greenery but I have had several people ask about this little plant. It looks so realistic that they think it is real. I got it at Ikea, but unfortunately I don’t think they carry them anymore. π
A while ago I covered a couple books with burlap and drop cloth fabric. They are great to decorate with. I will have to cover some more! I set a pitcher with some cotton stems in it on top of the books. Don’t you love the look of cotton stems? I know I do!
I have been tempted to paint these dark brown candlesticks white to give them a farmhouse look. When I mentioned this to Mr. Wonderful, he said why, we can just make some! Yes, please! Maybe that will be a tutorial soon we can share with you. Fingers crossed!
I love to decorate the rest of the room to coordinate with the colors on the mantel. I think the neutral colors on the brown leather couch go great with the mantel!
These patchy farmhouse grain sack pillows I made earlier in the year worked fantastic with the neutral theme. I finally got around to sharing the tutorial for them. π
In case you haven’t seen enough, here are some more pictures! π
I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday today!!

This is gorgeous! I really like how you mixed 2 dimensional painted stars with 3 dimensional start that stand out on the flag. This is a fantastic vignette π Thanks for sharing at Merry Monday!

Very nice! I love the neutrals instead of red white & blues. Love the flag too. Pinned! #MM
