If you are not a fan of normal Valentine’s Day decorations, try for a more subtle approach. This neutral Valentine’s Day decor is a perfect way to decorate for the holiday without it being over the top.
Hello friends! It has been a nice break, but I figured I should probably get back to work. π Today I am sharing my neutral Valentine’s Day decor with you. I usually don’t do a lot of decorating for this holiday, but I still like to change up my mantel to reflect the current season. This year I went with a more subtle approach by using neutral colors.
Valentine’s Day does not have to be pink or red
Do you normally decorate for Valentine’s Day? If not, this is a great way to dip your toes in the water. You may not want a room full of pink and red hearts and I hear you on that. I do not always want that either. In fact, one year I decorated a colorful Valentine’s Day mantel and loved it! So I am here to tell you that you aren’t relegated to red and pink for this holiday.
Also, decorating with neutral colors is so easy! You don’t have to worry about matching colors and neutral colored accent pieces are the best because they are so versatile! In fact, you may already have items in your house that you can use to decorate with.
These wood candlesticks are examples of neutral items that I use all the time. Not only on mantels, but they are great for tabletop vignettes or in tablespaces as well. They work great with a neutral theme or any color combination!
Farmhouse Valentine’s Day mantel
This neutral Valentine’s Day decor would also fit in fantastically with modern farmhouse decor. The shiplap, pallet boards and other wood tones mixed with the white and cream give it a farmhouse feel.
The DIY shiplap backdrop in combination with the pallet board backdrop are a great frame for this DIY feather heart wreath. I will be sharing the tutorial for this feather heart soon. Isn’t it lovely?
To complement the feather heart wreath, I also made up some DIY paper heart garlands. They were so fun and easy to make! Check out that tutorial to make some for yourself! π
I made the heart garlands in neutral colors to not only fit into the theme, but also so they would coordinate with the wood bead garlands that I left up there from my Christmas mantel.
Neutral Valentine’s Day decor love
One of my favorite things about this neutral Valentine’s Day mantel (besides the feather heart wreath, which I adore) is the different wood tones that are incorporated into it. The pallet board backdrop works magic by bringing all the different wood tones together!
Have I changed your mind on Valentine’s Day decor? I have a passion for showing different ways to decorate for holidays that are not full of the cheesy decorations you find at the store. Hopefully this will inspire someone else to try their hand at it too. Decorating doesn’t have to be complicated, sometimes simple is better. Is this simple subtle mantel something you would try?
I will be back next week with the tutorials for the Valentine’s Day projects in this post. Stay tuned and stay warm! It is even chilly here in Florida! Pray for us. π

How do you attach the beaded garland and such to the mantle?
Kimberly says
Hi Tifanny! I just used small command hooks that were stuck on the top and sides of the mantel to hang the garlands from. π
