This red and green Christmas tree is giving all the classic Christmas feels! The traditional color combo along with the plaid accents makes it feel very festive.
It’s almost here!! Can you feel the holiday magic? Decorating in classic Christmas colors always makes things feel more magical, don’t you think? I love how this red and green Christmas tree color palette and coordinating decor makes everything feel extra Christmas-y.
This year, I wanted a more traditional Christmas feel and I think this decor delivers! I have seen a lot of influencers talking about a Ralph Lauren Christmas vibe with reds, greens and plaids. I’m not sure if this qualifies or not but I am happy with it! π Also, the flocked trees and wreath make it feel like you are walking into a winter wonderland, even if it is 70 degrees outside here! Ha!
I used a lot of things that I already had on hand to decorate with this year. However, I did buy a couple small items though to round out the decor, like this lovely plaid ribbon! I also got the pretty red flowers on clearance form the fall supply at Hobby Lobby! Sometimes it pays to think outside the box for your decorations.
I wanted to try something different with my ribbon this year, so I tripled up on three different ribbons and stacked them. I think the effect looks fantastic! What do you think?
You may recognize the red and white striped ornaments from last year. Check out the tutorial to make some for yourself. Also speaking of DIY ornaments, did you spot the yarn ornaments that I just shared? The only bad part of putting them on this tree is that the flocking sticks to the yarn. D’oh! Oh well, they still look great!
Decorate under and around the tree
Don’t forget to decorate under the tree too! I’m sure everyone is saying but that’s where the presents go!! You can make the presents the decor! Match your wrapping paper to your tree to make everything look more cohesive and it gives a more upscale look to the tree, in my opinion. It is an easy way to add a lot to the overall look of your Christmas tree.
I added these fun little gnomes that I found a couple years ago at Ikea. Aren’t they cute? They also like to attract the flocking! Ha!
I added a vase with some flocked stems and some of the wrapping paper I used on the side on the tree to help fill in a gap that was there. It looks great too, so that is a bonus! π
Red and green Christmas mantel
In addition to the red and green Christmas tree, I decorated the mantel to coordinate. Since I was not trying to buy a lot this year, I have used most of these items in past mantels but changing them up just a bit gives a whole different look to the mantel! It really shows how you can reuse what you already have to get a whole new feel!
I added some red bells and matching plaid ribbon from the tree to the flocked wreath.
I really like how the candles flank the shape of the bottom of the wreath. These are real candles but I don’t dare light them or the flocking on the wreath will go up like the Christmas tree in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! LOL! That is my favorite Christmas movie!! I guess I need to get some remote candles, maybe next year. π
You can see some more of the yarn ornaments that I made on the mantel along with the DIY chain garland that I shared recently. It looks so cheery, I love it. I will definitely be making more in the future, maybe with felt next time!
I added a festive Merry Christmas banner to the top and the bottom of the mantel to finish it off.
Christmas pillow love
And of course, I can’t forget the pillows! Fun fact, I have A LOT of pillow covers that I have previously made or bought. I didn’t realize just how many until recently as I was repurposing one of our rooms into a craft room/office. I came up with a great way to organize and store them though, of which I will share with you all soon when I show you the room. These plaid Christmas pillows are some that I made several years ago. They have held up well!
On the other side of the room, I decorated the media table with some other previous projects. These adorable DIY plaid reindeer! These have also held up amazingly well. I love reusing my old DIY decor, it gives me a lot of satisfaction. π Hopefully you all don’t get tired of seeing it!
I will be back soon to share my other Christmas tree in the dining room. With that tree, I went with a more natural and rustic theme and I gotta say, I LOVE how it turned out. Chat soon friends!
