I did not do a lot of decorating specifically for Easter this year, for some reason that is a holiday that I normally do not decorate for much. Not sure why, since there are so many cute elements to draw from. Mostly I just decorate for spring in general but that is the beauty of this simple Easter vignette. It can work double duty, as decor for Easter and spring! There would be no need to take it down after Easter because it would fit in with spring decorating as well. π
If you follow along with my blog, you may remember a blog post I did last year. I gave lots of tips for creating an Easter vignette. If you want more Easter decorating inspiration, you should definitely check out that post! That post made it really easy for me to style this Easter vignette. So when I was coming up for a title for this post, I decided to call it a simple Easter vignette. Now I know simple is relative, to some this may not look simple! I think after you read that other post it will be simple to you too! π
I was inspired to make this vignette by these orange tulips. They were originally used on my citrus and floral spring tablescape with some other tulips. I figured while I had them, it would be super cute to use them in an Easter vignette with some carrots to bring in some different shades of orange. Not to toot my own horn but I WAS RIGHT! π I love how the the orange pops in this vignette. I don’t think orange is a color that is used much in decor (at least not in mine) so it was fun to bring it in.
This cute little bunny came from Hobby Lobby last year. I could not find him online to link to but I know they still carry them because I saw him there when I was there buying the carrots and mini eggs! π
The bigger cream and green eggs were actually a DIY project I made for an upcoming Easter tablescape. They happened to work wonderfully for this too! I was surprised to find the mini eggs at Hobby Lobby that matched so well with my DIY speckled eggs! Perfect! I thought they looked cute in the mini basket. It reminded me of an Easter basket.
Did you know candlesticks are not just for candles? π How cute is the nest sitting on top of one of the mercury glass candlesticks! The contrast of the natural elements of the nest and the shiny glass blend together nicely. Don’t you think? I love this photo with the eggs just peeking out of the top of the nest.
The nest was a prop that came in a plant one time. However it was only the sticks and was pointed on the bottom so it did not sit very well. I added some Spanish moss to it to make it look more realistic and so it would sit level. While it is not perfect, it sits much better than it did. I love the softness the moss brought to the nest.
It is great to have different levels in your vignettes to add interest. To get the flowers a little higher in height, I put the pitcher on a couple books. I did not have any books that were neutral colors to fit into this vignette, so I decided to cover a couple with burlap and drop cloth.
It made me feel like I was in high school again making book covers! Ha!! The covering of these books was a little more involved than covering high school books, but with a little help from Mod Podge, they were covered. I love the look of the books now and I know I will be using them in my decor in the future. In fact, I think I need to make a couple more. Is anyone interested in a tutorial on that??
The little green lambs ear plant is a faux one from Ikea. I heard that they stopped selling them! If that is true, it is unfortunate because they were a great price and are so realistic looking! Makes me wish I would have gotten more the last time I was there. Maybe with enough outcry from the consumers they will bring them back? Fingers crossed! π
I put everything into this farmhouse tray that was a makeover from a Christmas tray. Keep your eyes peeled at thrift stores for easy makeovers like this! Using a tray for vignettes is great because they are easily transferable that way. This vignette is easy to move to the coffee table when we need to use the dining room table.
I will be sharing the tutorial for the DIY eggs soon. Until then have a wonderful weekend! I hope this inspires you to try your hand at an Easter vignette! π
