Brighten up your dining room or kitchen area with this cheery summer strawberry tablescape! It is simple and sweet at the same time!
Wow, summer is sailing right by, isn’t it? We still have the rest of August so enjoy it while you can. However, one way to extend summer indoors is by decorating a simple strawberry tablescape like this one.
Fruit is such a great option for decorating with in the summer because it is so abundant! Not to mention fun and cheery! Who wouldn’t love decorating with adorable little strawberries?
Strawberry tablescape with lots of color
This is actually the first time I have used strawberries in my decorating and I gotta say, I love it! The color combination is visually stunning with the reds, greens and pinks.
I also threw in the black and white to keep it from feeling too soft and feminine. I wanted a bold look and I think I achieved that. The black somehow grounds the other soft colors, don’t you think?
I found these great red and white gingham napkins at Hobby Lobby. I knew they would go perfect for this tablescape. I already had a black and white buffalo plaid tablecloth so I folded that in thirds and used it as a table runner to coordinate with the napkins.
I bought two extra napkins to make a pillow cover as you can see on the window ledge in the background. Pairing the red and white gingham pillow with some black and white pillows completely ties the pillows into the strawberry table decor.
Use strawberry filled cupcakes as place settings
The thing I love about decorating tablescapes is that they can be as simple or highly decorated as you want them to be. I tend to gear towards simple tablescapes, because let’s face it, most of us don’t have the resources or reasons to fully decorate a table all the time. 🙂
Plate decorations, or place holders, can be as simple as a complimentary food item that you are serving. Like in this tablescape, I made these yummy strawberry filled cupcakes and showcased them on the plates. They fit in perfectly with the theme and color combination of the tablescape.
Stack different plates for visual appeal
One thing that I like to do in my tablescapes is to use different colors and patterns of plates. I tend to stick with white for the dinner plates but mix it up with the chargers and smaller salad plates.
Here I used two different sized chargers, the straw looking one and the black one. These coordinate well with the layered table runners. I found these awesome replica milk glass green salad plates at Walmart! I already had some vintage green milk glass bowls and wanted to find some matching plates. I think they go together well, don’t you?
Strawberry tablescape with sugar mold centerpiece
Not to mention, they also work “berry” well with the greenery and DIY fabric strawberries in my sugar mold centerpiece! 😉
This DIY sugar mold is one of the staples I use in my decorating because I can use it in so many ways!
It is perfect to fill with candles, greenery or whatever items you are decorating with. In this case it is strawberries. But you can also see it in action on this Easter tablescape that I decorated or on my last Christmas tablescape.
Strawberry sideboard decor
Make sure you don’t just limit yourself to the table decor. In addition to decorating the table, I like to decorate around the dining room as well. As evidenced by the coordinating pillows earlier! I also decorated the “sideboard” cabinet (aka Lego storage cabinet) to flow with the strawberry tablescape.
I like to use items that compliment the color scheme of the tablescape and the sideboard cupboard is a perfect place to show off more of my fabric strawberries!
We are still in the process of decorating our new home how we want it. I know this will be a long ongoing process, but one thing we added was this grouping of hanging pendants for the dining room lighting. You may have noticed them in the pictures. What do y’all think of the pendants? I am in love with how they turned out!! Here they are in a backed out shot with the lights on.
Next up for this room will be curtains and a new bigger DIY mirror to go on the sideboard. As you can see we have very high ceilings so normal sized items feel a little small in here. I think we are going to have to make or invest in some more oversized decor items. Enjoy the rest of your summer, I will be busy getting to work on some Halloween and fall crafts and sharing them soon! I know, I know! Too soon, right? 🙂
