Another year bites the dust! I hope 2018 was a great year for you! I wanted to take a little time to do a year in review for 2018. On a personal note, 2018 was pretty uneventful for us for most of the year. We were able to take a couple of trips, met some wonderful new friends and spent some time with family. Mr. Wonderful and I celebrated a milestone anniversary this year. 20 years!! It blows my mind that it has been that long, but at the same time feels like it has gone by too fast. The years have been great and I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side to spend them with. π
Favorite Mantel: Spring Mantel
Since there were no major changes in our lives, we kinda chugged along like normal and before we knew it the year was gone. In a way that is nice, to have a routine that you feel comfortable with. But we have found that when you get too comfortable, you do not experience much growth.
Favorite DIY Project: DIY Sugar Mold
I had set some blogging plans for 2018 at the beginning of the year and after looking back on those, I feel like I did not accomplish what I wanted to. I got too comfortable. π Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of great posts over the year, of which I will be sharing our top 10 favorites with you today. While A Wonderful Thought still experienced growth, honestly I wanted to get more done with the blog.
Favorite Sewing Craft: DIY Farmhouse Grain Sack Pillows
Don’t let anyone fool you, blogging is not a cake walk. It takes lots of time and commitment. Time being the pertinent word here. There is never enough time!! Maybe someday this will be my full time gig and I can commit more time to it, but for now I do what I can. π
Favorite Outdoor Project: Interchangeable Front Porch Sign
When I started A Wonderful Thought a couple years ago, I really wanted it to be a blog that encompassed lots of different categories. However looking back at the posts over the last couple of years, I am realizing that it is mostly a DIY, craft and decorating blog. I guess that is what I am most passionate about and it shows by the posts I write. π
Favorite Tablescape: Soft and Lovely Easter Tablescape
This doesn’t mean that I won’t throw in a couple recipes here and there or home improvement posts. I still need/want to get that home improvement series done!
Favorite Home Renovation:Β DIY Craftsman Style Board and Batten Shutters
Favorite Recipe: Chicken Stuffing Casserole
Also, if you follow along, you know that we love Disney! I still want to get some more Disney posts written. On that same topic, Mr. Wonderful will be making some more Stateroom Mickey Ears this year. We only added a couple to the collection last year, again we got too comfortable! π We just had a request for Dumbo, so look for that one soon!
Favorite Stateroom Mickey Ears: Cheesehead Ears
I am excited to be continuing with the Merry Monday link party this year. I love seeing all the great posts that other bloggers link up. It is inspiring for me, seeing all the recipes and projects. It gets new ideas flowing in my head on what I could do. π
Favorite Merry Monday Post: Imaginative Ways to Plant Succulents
One of the most exciting changes on A Wonderful Thought this year was that we tried our hand at a couple videos. Whew! Videos are a lot of work. I didn’t realize the time and talent it takes to record and edit a video. I am sure most people don’t either. It makes me look at blogger’s videos in a whole new light!
Favorite Video: Finger Knitted Yarn Pumpkin
I hope I have not sounded down on 2018, really it was a great year! Mr. W thinks I am being too hard on myself and that I should celebrate the accomplishments. Who knows, maybe I am being hard on myself or maybe I am just being too honest. Ha! I do know that we appreciate everyone who follows along and supports A Wonderful Thought. Thank you so much for all the kind comments and encouragement we get from you! While I am not making any concrete plans for 2019, I am really excited about the possibilities of where we can go from here. Here’s to getting out of our comfort zones and growth!
