Happy Fall Y’all! Today I am joining up with some other blogging friends to share our fall tablescapes. Make sure to check out the links at the bottom of the post for some more fall tablescape inspiration! I have always wanted to do an outdoor tablescape and thought an outdoor fall tablescape would be the perfect setting!
The leaves are starting to turn pretty colors, the weather is getting milder andย usually the bugs are less bothersome. Also, our patio set really lends itself to fall colors as we have rust orange colored cushions. ๐
I really didn’t want to spend any money on another tablescape so I decided to throw one together using items we had around already. I also thought it would be a good way to show how to decorate a table on a budget. This was kind of a fun challenge to see what I could come up with. Granted, I did have to buy apples but those don’t really count because we will eat them. ๐ Plus, some of the apples are faux ones, so I did not have to buy as many.
I guess I have to count the apple pie as bought too. ๐ I still have yet to actually make a pie, maybe someday. But again, it was edible and that pie did not last long! We enjoyed it later that night. I love this picture with the sun shining across the pie. It really highlights all the hills and valleys in the crust. The pie was from Walmart and oh so good!!
I used some faux pumpkins and berry garland for an easy centerpiece. The table runner is from Target. I wanted a neutral colored tablecloth so I just used a drop cloth that I have for an upcoming project. It works perfect for an outdoor tablescape!
The bigger middle pumpkin was actually a bright orange color previously. I have painted a lot of our pumpkins around here lately. Some of them were weird shades of yellow and oranges, and I know I will use them more if they are neutral colors. I will be sharing a tutorial soon if you want to paint some of yours too! The two outer pumpkins came from Walmart a couple years ago.
In between the pumpkins, I used some glass vases that I had and put some wheat stalks into them. These wheat stalks were leftovers from my DIY wheat wreath. Which, by the way, is still one of my favorite wreaths I have made! I already have it hanging on my front door for fall and will be showcasing it later in my fall front porch post.
I hot glued some rope onto the top of the glass vases to tie them into these rope chargers. These chargers were another DIY project I made for a previous coastal summer tablescape. They are great in that they are so versatile! When I looked, I couldn’t find them to buy anywhere. However, if you don’t want to make some, you could always buy some similar ones like these hyacinth chargers.
The plates and bowls were a set that I found at a thrift store last year. They are so pretty with the gold on the edges. They sell similar plates at Hobby Lobby but these were much cheaper! ๐
I got the cloth napkins for my summer wildflowers tablescape. I tried my hand at embroidery and it turned out pretty well. The napkins came in a pack of 12 so I had some leftovers to leave plain and use. They are a linen/cotton blend and very nice! Isn’t the crocheted trim edging so pretty?
The place settings are super easy. Just place an apple in each bowl, nothing else is necessary. ๐ I like the simpleness of it.
These pint sized mason jarsย work great as glasses for an outdoor tablescape. That way you won’t chance your good glasses getting broken! Plus, the rusticness of them works well with the natural elements of fall. They were just asking for the silverware to be placed inside too. Cute, right? ๐
I thought it would be a shame to let this beautiful tablescape go to waste so we had some friends over that night to help us use it. The weather was gorgeous but the mosquitoes were not so nice! Ugh! That is why I said above that in fall the bugs are USUALLY less bothersome. That was not the case this evening. Oh well, we still enjoyed our meal but promptly moved inside!
We had just stained our deck and fence the weekend before so everything was looking fantastic! We went with a darker color to try to get rid of the orange cedar toned color on there previously. I will be posting some before and after pics with staining tips for you soon. It looks totally different in the shade vs the sun as you can see in some of these pictures. It is much darker in the shade but either way, I love it!
As pretty as the tablescape looked, I think I will be using lower centerpieces in the future. The higher items do not allow for conversation across the table very easily. We had to move the wheat vases and big pumpkin out of the way to talk to each other. Ha! Oh well, you live and you learn. ๐ Don’t forget to check out the tablescapes below for more ideas! Have a wonderful day!

Kim you always create beautiful tablescapes and this one is gorgeous. I love all of the natural elements and even though I’m an orange fall kind of girl the apples and ring of berries set the mood for me. I agree about the tall centerpiece but they are so pretty!

Thanks Shirley!! Honestly, I love all the fall colors too! This was the first time I actually sat down and ate at one of the tablescapes I have decorated with a tall centerpiece, so it was a big eye opener. ๐
LOVE this tablescape! Seriously, everything about it is lovely! So simple, but so fall, and I love that you set it outside. How fun!
Thanks Denise! It was fun to try a tablescape outside. Although next time I need a better bug repellent! ๐
